I cannot interpret the GNOME errors in the journal.Ĭode: Jun 29 00:56:36 wrangler gnome-shell: Could not load a pixbuf from icon theme. So, WTH is GNOME doing? I cannot find the documented process for icon discovery. And, I even checked that against a vanilla VM and those things match. desktop files reference an icon file, and the icon files exist in the expected locations. From what I find, everything is in order. The issue is that I cannot, for many hours of checking, find a detailed enough description of how icons work to troubleshoot further. That restored me to the current state, but I cannot find the source of the remaining broken icons. The second command was the one that did the initial damage. I have since run them several more times. I ran both, although, as far as I can tell, they didn't change anything.
